Tito Jackson Ready for Peach Drop in Atlanta
ATLANTA, Ga. – Tens of thousands of New Year’s revelers are expected to pack Underground Atlanta to witness the 22nd Annual Peach Drop—and of course to ring in the New Year. Tito Jackson is set to headline the largest New Year’s Eve celebration in the southeast.
It will take less than a minute for the 800-pound peach to drop, ushering in 2011. On Thursday night, it was time for the dress rehearsal. Organizers spent much of the day testing the peach, just to make sure it drops as planned on New Year’s Eve.
Organizers are also taking steps to make sure the Peach Drop is a safe experience for everyone who attends.
Jackson is scheduled to debut two new songs from his solo album, along with performing a number of original Jackson family classics. His mother, Katherine Jackson, will join him on stage along with Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed to welcome 2011 at midnight.
Parking at the Peach Drop will be limited, so if you’re going, MARTA is your best transportation option.
