Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson Grants Evelyn Lozada Divorce
Chad Johnson has plead not guilty to a battery charge in the alleged domestic violence incident with his wife Evelyn Lozada, but the former Miami Dolphins player has also finally granted her a divorce. Lozada was quick to present Johnson with papers following their clash, but he has been resistant until now. The divorce isn’t final yet, but he has reportedly agreed to break their bond, while pushing to keep the terms of their pre-nup valid.
The pre-nup states that each party will be responsible for paying their own legal bills.
Johnson was arraigned on Thursday (September 13), being officially charged with a first-degree misdemeanor domestic battery after his wife reported that she was head-butted during a heated fight. Johnson will face a maximum penalty of one year in jail.
On the night of the reported incident, Lozada told police that Johnson had head-butted her during an argument, while he relayed a similar story to police, telling them that she had been the offender. After that, Lozada remained out of sight while her bruise healed up and then did the talk show rounds, saying that she still “loves him” but won’t get back together. “It’s the hardest thing in the world to walk away from someone that you really love. But you have to walk away because I have to protect myself,” she said.
Lozada detailed the moments leading up to the incident, explaining that she found a receipt for condoms in Johnson’s car and confronted him about it. “And then the next thing I know, he grabbed me by here [pointing to her head] and he head-butted me,” she said. “I felt blood coming down my face… and I looked at him and I said, ‘You just head-butted me?’ And it just — everything just felt if it was in slow motion.”
